The founders of Lagaviti were driven by the question of how technology could be better leveraged in the service of the legal profession. With the growing adoption of artificial intelligence and the rapid development of large language models, the idea of Lagaviti gradually took shape - a technological solution designed to assist lawyers in their day-to-day work. In developing Lagaviti, the founders have engaged in extensive dialogue with a wide range of artificial intelligence experts in Iceland and other countries, with the aim of building a solution that makes use of the latest AI technology at any given time and can help all lawyers - whether in the public sector or in private practice - resolve complex legal issues.

However, the idea behind Lagaviti is not solely to increase efficiency in legal work, save time, and reduce costs. With Lagaviti, we also seek to promote more accurate legal outcomes and to better ensure public legal awareness and enhanced legal certainty.

The development of Lagaviti has taken place over the past two years in collaboration with Iceland’s largest law firms and numerous experts across various fields of law. At its peak, around 20 individuals have worked together on the development of the solution, including lawyers, AI specialists, software engineers, computer scientists, programmers, designers, and others.

Lagaviti’s operations are also supported by a strong investor who shares the founders’ vision of the importance of bringing a high-quality AI solution for lawyers to fruition in Iceland, as well as other parts of the world - not only for the benefit of the legal community, but for society as a whole.
